What is an Elite Proxy Server & How Do I Use it to Change Hide My Real IP Address?
As you likely already know, a high anonymous (elite) proxy is the only type of proxy that cannot be identified as a proxy. Why settle for simply hiding your ip address, when you can just as easily, also hide the fact that you’re hiding it?
The word proxy just means stand-in (or substitute). So a proxy server is a stand-in for your real computer. You use it to hide your ip address and geo-location. It acts as a stand-in for your real computer (ie, for your real ip address & geo-location). A proxy server is very very easy to use once you have it set up. All that’s required to actually use it, is to change one setting in your web browser. For example, you can quickly see exactly how easy it is to use right now. On Firefox Click:
- Tools (top menu bar)
- Options (bottom choice)
- Advanced (tab)
- Network (sub-tab)
- Settings (button)
- Manual Proxy Configuration
Then just paste your new elite proxy server’s ip address into the text box, and change the port number to 3128. Now you’ve got a new private ip address, and your geographic location has changed (ie, your computer shows that it’s connected to the internet in whatever city the server is in).
So How Do I Get My Own Elite Proxy Server and Use it’s IP Address Instead of My Own IP?
The best way is to build one yourself, because then you don’t have to share the proxy’s bandwidth with anyone else. Plus, if you build your own proxy server, you won’t have to worry about the integrity of the proxy owner. Building your own elite proxy server might sound slightly intimidating, but it’s actually quite a simple process. Basically all you have to do is rent a remote virtual private server from a vps hosting company (less than $10/month) and then set it up to let you connect through it. My 10 minute tutorial was made specifically for this purpose.
Typically, when someone asks, What is a Proxy Server?, the reason they’re asking is because they want to hide their real ip address and their computer’s real geographic location, and then use the proxy server’s ip and geo-location instead. That makes perfect sense because that’s exactly what a high anonymous elite proxy server is for. Setting up the proxy server is actually pretty straight forward. Basically all you do is type the 5 short command lines (from my tutorial) into an ssh shell.
OPTION #1:
Standard Version
Use this option to set up as many elite proxy servers as you want to for the rest of your life. It will never become outdated because the script automatically updates itself every time you use it.
OPTION #2:
Advanced Version
Same as option #1 above but also includes instructions for putting multiple ip addresses on the same proxy server. Don't bother with this option if you only need 1 new ip address (most users) but if you want to put lots of different ip addresses all on the same proxy then this is the option for you.
