Use Proxy Server to Hide Your IP Address & Where You Live

I’ll have to assume that the question being asked here is, “How to Use Proxy Server?” Using a personal elite proxy server is as easy as changing one setting in your web browser. For example, on the Firefox browser (on the top menu) click: Tools >> Options >> Advanced (tab) >> Network (sub-tab) >> Settings (button), and then check the “Manual Proxy Configuration” option. In the “HTTP Proxy” text box, paste in the IP address of your personal proxy server, and it’s Port number. Click “OK” twice and you’re done. Now just refresh or restart your browser and you’ll now be using the proxy’s ip instead of your real one. Undo it by putting it back the way it was. All browsers have a proxy setting, and all are configured pretty much the same way I just discussed. A few of the others like Internet Explorer will have a “LAN Settings” button once in the settings window.

How to Use Proxy Server as a Hidden Private IP Address

The obvious next question at this point would be where to get the new IP address from. That part is bit trickier. You’ll need to build yourself a personal proxy server (or rent one) because the VPS (virtual private server) that you build the proxy server on will have it’s own IP already built in, that you can then use as your own (instead of your real one, thus, hiding your real ip address). Use proxy server requires connecting to another computer (server). So in order to connect to a server, you need to have access to one, and then put a proxy script on it. VPS Hosting companies have made that very easy to accomplish, and extremely affordable (generally less than about $10 bucks/month). A VPS host will rent you one of their servers, and allow you to turn it into your own personal proxy “server”. Actually, they’ll let you turn it into pretty much anything you want to turn it into, but in our case that would obviously be a proxy server (traditionally, VPS’s are used to build small to medium sized websites on).

As discussed in the first paragraph, using the proxy server once it’s built is as easy as changing one setting in your web browser, and then surfing the internet as usual (all the proxy stuff is happening in the background, so you won’t notice any difference from how you normally use the internet) but the difference will be that your real ip address and where you live will be hidden, and the ip and location of the VPS will be shown instead. For example, if you live in Miami, and rent a VPS that’s in Chicago, whenever you’re connected to the internet, it will show that you are actually in Chicago instead of where you really are (Miami). This is obviously beneficial for an enormous variety of reasons and only you know why you want to hide your real IP and where you live, but whatever your reasons, learning to build your own is the way to go, because once you know how to do it, you’ll be able to do it for yourself for the rest of your life. In fact you can keep changing your ip and location as often as you like. You can have multiple ip’s on the same proxy, and you can also have multiple proxies (and from multiple cities).

If you’d like to see more specific (step by step) details of how to set up a proxy server of your own, Check out my Proxy Server “Cheat Sheet” (link below, and all over the site) to see what you’ll actually have to do to set up a proxy server for yourself. When you’re ready to actually build your proxy server, the paid version tutorial up there in the header of this page has all the scripts and screen shots in it that you’ll need, but the free cheat sheet will give you a sneek peek so that you’ll know what to expect. It really is quite easy, cheap, and quick. — You Are Here: Use Proxy Server to Hide Your IP Address & Where You Live
