How to Hide IP Address Online

You hide your ip address by re-routing your internet activities through a remote server, and thus, the only detectable ip address, is the ip address of that remote server. The cheapest, easiest, fastest way to get a remote server (and thus, its ip address) is to rent a cheap bare-bones VPS from a VPS hosting company. Follow these steps on how to hide ip address with a private & completely undetectable, high anonymous elite proxy server.

STEP ONE

Get an Account w/ a Cheap Remote Server Host

The first thing you need to do to set up your own private proxy server (and thus, obviously, the first step for how to hide ip address) is to cover the “server” part of the equation.

This has become quite a cheap & simple process in recent years due to the advent of Virtual Private Servers. A VPS is basically just a really really cheap bare-bones remote server that you can rent from a hosting company on a month to month basis (typically used by web developers for site testing).

We only need a tiny bit of computing power (because all we’re really doing is hosting a tiny proxy script) so we only need the smallest, cheapest vps available (which is typically no more than about $6 or $10 bucks). There are literally hundreds (if not thousands) of vps hosting companies, but just to get you started — The 10 Minute Tutorial includes a list of about 20 vps hosts where you can get a vps account for under 10 bucks.

STEP TWO

Login to Your New Remote VPS Account:

After you get your remote vps account, the hosting company will send you an email with the ip address & root password of your new remote server. Now just login to the server using your favorite SSH client (we suggest PuTTY because it’s tiny & it’s free).

If you’re not already familiar with SSH clients; it’s not a big deal. SSH just stands for “secure shell” (window), and basically it’s just a tiny utility that pretty much every programmer on the planet uses to connect to remote servers with. It has all sorts of uses, but all we need it for is to connect to the server and type in our five command lines. After that you can just close it out, and likely never use it again (unless you want to set up more “Fake” IPs in the future).

STEP THREE

Type in the 5 Command Lines from the Tutorial,

which will install & configure the proxy script for you. Just type in each line one at a time and wait for the script to finish running (a few seconds each for most of them, and about 1 or 2 minutes for the main one “proxy.sh”). As an example, the first two command lines you’ll be typing in are:

cd /apt/etc“cd” stands for “change directory”, so this command just moves you from the “root” folder, into the “etc” folder (which is inside the “apt” folder)

apt-get install wget“apt-get” will install a little program onto the server called “wget” (which will be used in the next command to go out to my server and “get” my pre-written squid.config script)

Once all 5 lines have been entered (and the main script has finished running) the proxy server will be all set up, and ready for you to start using it’s ip address instead of your own real ip address. And that, my friend, is how to hide ip address.

STEP FOUR

Set Your Web Browser to Use Your New IP Address

Your private proxy server is now set up & ready to use. So the only thing left to do is tell your web browser to start using it.

Firefox users for example, Click: Tools >> Options >> Advanced >> Network >> Settings >> Manual Proxy Configuration (now plug your new ip address into the http https proxy field).

For use as a Torrent Proxy ie, anonymous & undetectable torrent downloads; also set your torrent client to use your new fake ip address. uTorrent users for example, Click: Options >> Preferences >> Connection (now plug your new ip address into the proxy field). — You Are Here: How to Hide IP Address

How to Hide IP Online

Learning how to hide ip online is actually quite a bit simpler than you might think. The trick is to run your traffic through a remote server first, so that the ip address that gets detected is the ip address of the remote server instead of your ip address. For example; if you want to go to the orkut website, but you don’t want orkut to know that you were there (ie, you don’t want orkut to see your real ip address) you set your web browser to connect to your remote server first, and then have your remote server go to orkut for you.

A few people might get intimidated at this point because playing around with your web browser’s connection settings seems like it might be complicated, but trust me, it’s anything but. On Firefox web browser for example, just go to Tools >> Options >> Advanced >> Network >> Settings. Now under the first heading which is “Configure Proxies to Access the Internet”, Select the “Manual Proxy Configuration” choice. Now just paste in the ip address and port number of your remote server, and check the “Use this proxy server for all protocols” box.

Now of course, in order to get a new ip address to actually paste in there, and thus complete the goal of how to hide ip online, you need a remote server that has been configured as a proxy server first (more specifically; as an “elite” proxy server). Obviously that part is a bit more complex than changing your browser’s connection settings was, but not too much more complex.

The first step is to get the remote server. A really cheap & easy way to do that is to just get yourself a tiny little Unmanaged VPS server account from a VPS hosting company. The cheap ones we need are only $8 or $10 bucks. These VPS servers already have their own ip address, so they cover both the remote server requirement, and the ip address requirement. So now all you need is a simple to follow tutorial that shows you how to load an elite proxy script onto that server (hint, hint).

You may have noticed, that I sell a little pdf tutorial here that shows you how to do exactly that (in about 10 minutes) but I’ll give you a quick overview of the basics. The tutorial also tells you everything you need to know about getting the remote server account too, and even has a list of about 20 hosting companies you can use if you don’t already have your own favorite vps hosting company.

The hosting company will send you an email with the ip address and root password of your vps server, which you’ll need to login to it. After that you just type in (or paste in) the five short command lines from the tutorial. Those five command lines will do all the work of configuring your remote server into a high anonymous (elite) proxy server for you. And that is how to hide ip online.

OPTION #1:

Standard Version

Use this option to set up as many elite proxy servers as you want to for the rest of your life. It will never become outdated because the script automatically updates itself every time you use it.

  $14.99

OPTION #2:

Advanced Version

Same as option #1 above but also includes instructions for putting multiple ip addresses on the same proxy server. Don't bother with this option if you only need 1 new ip address (most users) but if you want to put lots of different ip addresses all on the same proxy then this is the option for you.
