Explain How Turning a VPS into an Elite
Proxy Server Works:

A
Virtual-Private-Server is what results when a hosting company
partitions off a dedicated computer server into smaller sections. The
hosting company can then rent these smaller partitions for a much
cheaper base price, and thus, tremendously expand its market. These
smaller partitions (now called Virtual-Private-Servers or VPS's) are
typically rented out to small companies wishing to place their growing
website on a private server (as opposed to a slower/much less reliable,
shared server). One of the big advantages of these
Virtual-Private-Servers is that the word Virtual does not mean
Virtually-Private, (it's 100% private) it means that the server is
accessed Virtually (i.e., via the Virtual-World, i.e., the internet).
What this means for us is that we do not have to be in physical
proximity to the server in order to access, configure, and use it. We
access, configure, and use it via the internet (the same way we access
websites). Essentially, the server has its own web-address that we can
easily access via the same web-browsers we use to access any other
web-address (Mozilla Firefox for example, or Internet Explorer). As a
result, this VPS (Virtual-Private-Server) has been assigned its own IP
Address. That's great news for us because we (as the renter of the VPS)
can now pretend that the VPS's IP Address is actually our IP Address
(if we conduct all our internet activity through this server, instead
of connecting to websites and such directly).
The other big advantage is that the renter is given what is referred to
as "Root Access" to the server, meaning that the renter can access the
server's "Root Menu", and thus, configure the server to his exact
specifications (meaning that the renter can put pretty much any
software on the server that he wants to). This is great news for us
because it means that instead of putting Website-Software on the
server, we can put Proxy-Software on it. Proxy-software is the tool
that allows us to do the pretending, and thus, Hiding our IP Address.
When using the internet; if we connect to one of these
Virtual-Private-Servers (that we have configured with Proxy-software)
all IP tracking software (often used as a spam-filter) ONLY sees the IP
Address of the Virtual-Private-Server. It does not see the IP Address
of the computer using that Virtual-Private-Server (yours) and thus,
your IP Address is hidden, undetectable, invisible, anonymous, unable
to be tracked, filtered, or blocked). You have very effectively Hidden
Your IP Address.
An IP Address conveys quite a bit of information, not least of which is
the physical location of the computer assigned that IP Address. And
thus, if the Virtual Private Server that you rent is in Texas, USA (for
example) then that VPS's IP Address conveys that location as the
location of the person using that IP Address. So if you actually live
in New York, USA; when you access the internet via your
Virtual-Private-Server (with proxy-software on it) it appears that you
are actually in Texas. As another example; if you live in China and
access the internet via the Virtual-Private-Server (with proxy-software
on it) that you rented from a hosting company in Texas, USA (and thus,
the server is located in Texas, USA) it appears that YOU are
actually in Texas, USA too. Obviously this system is NOT limited to
Texas. Whatever city/country the Virtual-Private-Server is located in,
is the city/country that the user of that Virtual-Private-Server (with
proxy-software on it) appears to be in. There are
Virtual-Private-Server hosting companies all over the country, and thus
you can have a Virtual-Private-Server (with proxy-software on it) and
of course, with its own unique IP Address, in multiple cities all over
the country. For example, you can have one IP Address in Chicago, one
in Denver, one in Washington, and one in Seattle etc... Since the cost
of an Un-Managed Virtual-Private-Server is less than $10 per month to
rent (and since the proxy-software is free) the number of unique IP
Addresses you can use is only limited by the number of
Virtual-Private-Servers you decide to rent and put proxy-software on.
If you only need one IP Address (which is sufficient for average users)
then it only costs you less than $10/month. For example; if your only
goal is to be able to un-block websites censored by your government,
school, or employer, you only need one. But for those conducting other
activities that may require more than one IP Address (if you are
posting a lot of free ads on Craigslist for example) you are free to
rent as many Virtual-Private-Servers as you want to, and thus, have as
many unique IP Addresses as you want to.
